How to Find us
Sandsend is just north of Whitby, you can even walk from Whitby along the beach at low tide.
If you are coming via public transport you can get a train or coach to Whitby, then a bus or taxi to Sandsend. Train routes come to Whitby via Darlington, or you can get to Scarborough (and then a bus to Sandsend) via York.
The nearest airport is Durham Tees Valley, this is about an hours taxi-ride away, or you can get a taxi to Darlington and then the train to Whitby.
If you are driving to us it’s a lovely drive, the A169 from Pickering to Whitby is pretty majestic all year around, especially late summer when the heather is in full bloom. Other major roads in are the A171 from Teeside and the A174 from Scarborough.
If you are coming to Sandsend from the direction of Whitby, follow the road down into the village with the sea on your right. As you go over the narrow bridge The Healing Touch and The Healing School are directly in front of you. Turn left into the car-park.
If you are coming from the direction of Guisborough, follow the A171 to the Sandsend turn off, this will eventually take you through the village of Lythe. As you then come down the hill into Sandsend the sea will be on your left. Follow the road around until the beck is on your left, instead of going over the little bridge, turn right into the carpark .
You can park in the car-park free of charge out of season, in season it is £3 for the day. If there are spaces by the sea as you come down the hill you can park there all day free of charge. Note the spaces between the school and the cafe are reserved for The Healing Touch staff.
Please enter the building via the green stable door at the side of the building.
Please dress comfortably; layered clothing is a good idea, you may also wish to bring some thick socks or slippers.
