Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized form of massage that has powerful cleansing, relaxing, pain relieving & immunological effects. It is a gentle, flowing, rhythmic massage and can be applied to a wide range of physical conditions to great effect.
MLD is particularly useful for the treatment of lymphoedema and swelling that is often seen in response to cancer treatments such as radiotherapy. It’s specialized pumping technique can be used to prevent or treat lymphoedema and improve lymph drainage.
You will learn a full body routine including the face, which you will be able to use with your clients.
Manual Lymphatic drainage techniques facilitate the removal of metabolic wastes, excess water, toxins, bacteria, large protein molecules, and foreign substances from tissue via the initial lymph vessels and the venous capillaries. In addition it relaxes the sympathetic nervous system, reduces pain, and enhances the activity of the immune system.
It is an effective treatment for a variety of issues including oedema, skin disorders, headache, sinus congestion, sprains and aches, stress, digestive disorders, before and after surgery to remove tissue congestion and minimize scar formation. It is particularly useful as part of post-mastectomy therapy oedema and fibrosis and relieves pain and tension.
We have a DVD for this course, which is an excellent reference for those who have trained with us as a visual reminder for the technique learnt. This can be bought on the day for £10 for you can purchase one later if required.
Entry Requirement -
A certificate in an Anatomy and Physiology and Body Massage qualification.
Course Duration - One Day
Class Size - Small classes offering individual attention - no more than 6 per class
Course Times - 10.30 to 4.30pm Weekdays or 11.00-5pm Weekends
Examination System -
Continual assessment takes place during the day. On completion of the course a final practical assessment is completed to assess knowledge gained during the course.
Course Fees -
£140 including a comprehensive training manual to support your ongoing learning
Deposit of £40.00 payable in advance, balance then due £100.00 payable 14 days prior to the course date
