If you happen to see an abundance of purple balloons around Whitby you can guarantee that it must be May Day bank holiday or the first weekend in September, the dates for the increasingly popular Whitby Mind Body Spirit Fair.

With the logo ‘Walk in, Float Out’, the fair is a fascinating event with lots to keep your interest. Ease away pain, stress or tension with a relaxing Holistic therapy, enjoy some retail therapy (there are approximately 50 stalls with an abundance of things to buy), plus there are numerous psychic readers and free talks, demos and workshops throughout the two days.

The event in May 2009 (3/4th) will be the ninth Whitby MBS fair, the seventh one at its present venue Whitby Pavilion. Sponsored by The Healing Touch (Sandsend) the fair has gone from strength to strength, attracting exhibitors and visitors from all over the country. Di Wilson the fair's originator believes that part of the fair’s success comes from a growing interest in spirituality and complementary health and healing:

‘More and more people are finding help from natural health care and products. From aromatherapy to Quantum-Touch there are many healing modalities now available that people have found amazingly beneficial. There are also many talented local therapists who work to very high professional standards. The original aim of the fair was to introduce these therapies and therapists to the public, however it has gone way beyond this intention as people now travel from far and wide to be with us. Our fair has a reputation for being relaxing yet informative, we even have a harpist playing throughout the day to add to the peaceful atmosphere.’

The Logo of ‘Walk in, Float out’ comes from The Healing Touch in Sandsend, who sponsor the event. Di Wilson, from The Healing Touch explains: “Clients often float away after treatments as they feel so relaxed. Many years ago one of my clients actually said, ‘I’m going to float out now?’ and I replied ’Yes, you walk in and float out!’ the logo has been with me ever since. It applies to the fair too, it is such a relaxing experience, people can experience a wide range of therapies and of course the Pavilion is such a lovely venue with the cafe and sea-view.”

The Fair does a wonderful job of spreading the word about holistic health and what is available locally. As well as the well known therapies such as aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian Head Massage etc there will be many lesser known therapies to experience such as Angelic Reiki, EFT, Quantum-Touch, Bowen, Hopi ear candling, Mongolian Kayshai Massage, crystal balancing, Chinese Foot Massage and Japanese Hand Massage.

The retail therapy includes a huge selection of books, tarot & angel cards, clothing, CDs, crystal lamps, aromatherapy items, incense, crystals, gifts, pendulums, nutritional supplements, candles, Bush Essential skincare products, jewellery, handbags, native american items, Forever Living products, angel items, herbal and bee products and many hand crafted, fair-trade items and new-age gifts.

Whitby Mind Body Spirit Fair is proud to support Whitby RNLI.
