Could You Be A Fool?

My Facebook feed is full of giggles this morning, it’s April Fool’s Day after all 😉
According to AI (!) The true origin of April Fool’s Day is a bit of a mystery—but there are a few widely accepted theories, and they all circle around themes of time, change, and playful mischief.
One of the most popular explanations links it to the shift from the Gregorian calendar adoption in the 1500s. Before this change, many European countries celebrated the New Year around late March to April 1st, aligning with the spring equinox. When the calendar was standardised and New Year’s Day moved to January 1st, not everyone caught on straight away—or chose to follow it.
Those who continued celebrating in April were sometimes mocked and called “April Fools,” becoming the target of jokes and pranks.
Thinking of this today, I also started to think about the Fool card in the Tarot.
The Fool is not foolish in the way we might first think. He is the great beginner, the one who stands at the edge of a new path with openness, trust and curiosity. He doesn’t have all the answers, and he doesn’t need them. He is present. He is willing. He flows with life rather than trying to control it.
And what if that is our lesson for this month?
Instead of overthinking every step…
Instead of waiting until we feel “ready”…
What if we allowed ourselves to trust a little more?
To take the step.
To follow the nudge.
To meet each moment as it comes.
The Fool reminds us that life unfolds in the present — not in the past we replay or the future we try to predict. It takes courage to surrender to the present. I wonder if April we can be more open to this?
So this month, I invite you to explore:
Where can I trust more?
Where can I let go of needing certainty?
Where can I simply be here, now?
As always, I’m here if you have any questions or feel unsure where to begin.
Wishing you a month of trust, presence, and curious leaps into the unknown.
With love and magical blessings, Di x
